PARISIAN INSPIRED TOWN HOUSE
DANCE ROOM
The first-floor small living room/parlour was transformed into an inviting, cozy bar and dancing area, reminiscent of what a private club by Hermès might look like. Inspired by the marble tones in the foyer, we selected a smoky, cigar-like paint color by Benjamin Moore for the walls in both the foyer and living room to evoke an elegant, intimate, club-like atmosphere. To enhance this ambience, we commissioned local artist Heidi Delbeau to add gold leaf to the moulding’s shadow boxes, creating a Gilded Age look. We added a medallion with a smoky crystal chandelier by John Richard and enhanced the fireplace with an antique mirror and the client’s candle holders for added coziness. The clients’ love for horses was showcased through carefully chosen art pieces, while additional moody artwork maintained the space’s cozy feel.
LIVING ROOM
In the second floor’s main living room, we restored and brought back to life the sumptuous marble fireplace, which serves as the design’s centerpiece, and added the beautiful antique screen to complete the French look on this side of the room. To complement it, we chose a stunning Degournay wallpaper mural with a nature motif that created the illusion of a Parisian garden. This exquisite wallpaper was customized by moving the birds higher up for visibility and adjusting the flower colors to incorporate more purple, aligning with the lady of the house’s desire for a purple couch by Robert Allen. Complementary fabrics were carefully selected for the loveseat and comfy chair by Kravet. Additionally, we reupholstered the client’s bench and refinished the wood tone to harmonize with the overall design.
A vibrant modern area rug was chosen to evoke the feel of an abstract Monet painting, with artwork complementing those colors. We extended the French painter’s influence by customizing a gold leaf frame around the TV, adding an extra layer of elegance. The custom-made window treatments in ombre-effect silk were finished with Houle’s tiebacks and reeded curtain rods and exquisite finials, adding a perfect touch of refinement. A mix of furniture pieces, including the exquisite crystal gold leaf table lamps by Visual Comfort Lighting, along with the coffee and side tables, was selected to complement the wallpaper. Two of the client’s existing side tables were repainted in a finish that is harmonious with the new décor. An antique mirror was strategically placed to reflect the new crystal chandelier and medallion, enhancing the room’s light and amplifying the glow from the adjacent dining area. Finally, the room was finished with a light purple paint color by Benjamin Moore, bringing the entire design together cohesively and elegantly
DINING AND POWDER ROOM
The dining room and powder room were designed to evoke the beauty and tranquillity of gardens. A nature-inspired Kravet wallpaper was chosen for the walls in the dining room, while a shimmering wallpaper on the ceiling added a touch of elegance. Flower motif sconces and a chandelier from Visual Comfort Lighting enhanced the room’s light and created a springlike ambience. A formal dining table was selected to complement the client’s china cabinet, with new chairs upholstered in complementary green fabrics paired with a modern area rug in lighter tones. The custom-made table runner in vibrant colors from Designer’s Guild, along with the kitchen’s window treatments, added a light, cheerful, and inviting atmosphere to the space.
The nearby powder room retained its whimsical existing faucets and was transformed into a dreamy, fountain-like space with the addition of a beautiful flower wallpaper from Designer’s Guild. This design choice created a serene and enchanting atmosphere, perfectly complementing the garden-inspired theme.
PRIMARY SUITE
The master bedroom on the third floor was inspired by the sweetness of the clients’ love for each other, encapsulating a Parisian elegance. We envisioned an elegant bedroom fit for a queen and king, with the beautiful tufted French-inspired bed and bench from Eloquence setting the tone for the entire room. The shimmering silver and gold damask-style wallpaper from Fabricut added both personality and sophistication to the space. To enhance efficiency, we removed old bookshelves in the middle of the room and replaced them with a much-needed dresser, and added a beautiful light fixture from Visual Comfort Lighting for illumination. Argentine Mirrors crafted a custom antique mirror in this nook to amplify the natural light from the windows.
Our local artist hand-painted a gold leaf trim on the closet doors, while the new mirror side tables from Caracole, paired with gorgeous table lamps, kept the small room feeling light and airy.
Complimenting this are the window treatments, made from sheer fabric with elegant silk trim, which allow natural light to filter through during the day, while custom shades underneath provide privacy and darkness for restful sleep. A French side chair upholstered in Designer’s Guild fabric, accompanied by a modern marble table, offers a perfect spot for tea, leisure reading, or simply admiring the room’s beauty. A wool and silk hand-knotted Tibetan area rug added a relaxed yet refined touch to the entire room.
The couple’s nickname, “Love Birds,” inspired a collection of birds’ artwork that we discovered at a local art festival, adding a personal touch and whimsical element to the space. Additional decorative elements, floral paintings, and a black and white silhouette painting bring whimsiness and color into the room.
